- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups milk or plant-based milk
- 2 cups shredded cheese, cheddar or dairy-free cheese
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter or vegan butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Sauté the onions and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine milk, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Layer half the potato slices in a greased baking dish. Pour half the milk mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle half the cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, milk mixture, and cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
