Mini Crème Brûlée Donuts Recipe

  • Author: David

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar for topping
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a mini donut pan with cooking spray to ensure easy removal after baking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir these ingredients together until well mixed.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg. Ensure that the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to over-mix as this can result in dense donuts.
  5. Fill the Donut Pan
Fill each cavity of the mini donut pan about halfway with the batter. This ensures that your donuts will rise to the perfect height.
  6. Bake the Donuts
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and spring back when touched.
  7. Cool and Prepare the Topping
Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Once cooled, sprinkle brown sugar on top of each donut.
  8. Caramelize the Sugar
Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the brown sugar until it becomes bubbly and forms a crisp topping. If you don’t have a torch, you can use your oven’s broiler for a few seconds, but watch closely to prevent burning.
