Ingredients
Scale
- 8 hot dogs (you can choose beef, turkey, or vegetarian options based on your preference)
- 1 can of crescent roll dough (or puff pastry as an alternative)
- 2 tablespoons mustard (for decorating the mummy eyes)
- Ketchup (optional, for dipping)
- Cooking spray or parchment paper
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures that your mummy dogs will cook evenly and have a crispy exterior.
- Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Unroll the Dough: Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll it. If using puff pastry, roll it out to a similar thickness. Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut the dough into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
- Wrap the Hot Dogs: Take one hot dog and start wrapping it with a strip of dough, leaving a small gap for the “face”. Continue wrapping until the hot dog is mostly covered, resembling a mummy. Repeat this for all hot dogs.
- Bake: Place the wrapped hot dogs onto the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Add the Eyes: Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Use a toothpick to dab small dots of mustard onto the exposed hot dog portion to create eyes.
- Serve Warm: Arrange your Halloween Mummy Dogs on a platter and serve warm, with ketchup on the side for dipping.
