Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or coconut cream for dairy-free options
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Cocoa powder for coating
- Optional toppings:
- Crushed nuts
- Sprinkles
- Shredded coconut
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate: In a small saucepan, heat the cream over low heat until it’s warm but not boiling. Remove from the heat and add the chopped chocolate. Stir until the mixture is smooth and the chocolate is completely melted.
- Add Flavor: Mix in the vanilla extract thoroughly. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, giving it a rich and luscious consistency.
- Chill Mixture: Transfer the chocolate mixture to the refrigerator and let it chill for about 1 hour, until it’s firm enough to shape.
- Shape Truffles: Using a spoon, scoop out small amounts of the chilled mixture and roll them between your palms to form small, round balls.
- Coat Truffles: Roll each ball in cocoa powder or your choice of toppings, such as crushed nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut, to give them a festive look and added flavor.
- Chill Again: Place the coated truffles on a plate and refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes before serving to ensure they are firm and ready to enjoy.
