-
- 1 teaspoon salt
-
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
-
- 2 large eggs
-
- 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
-
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Baking Sheet
-
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
-
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients
-
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
-
- Set aside for later.
Step 3: Cream Butter and Sugars
-
- In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the butter and sugars together. Beat on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
-
- Add the salt, vanilla extract, and eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 4: Incorporate Dry Ingredients
-
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, beating on low speed until just combined.
Step 5: Add Chocolate and Nuts
-
- Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) with a spatula or wooden spoon until evenly distributed.
Step 6: Scoop and Bake
-
- Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
-
- Bake until cookies are golden brown around the edges, but still soft in the center, about 12-15 minutes.
Step 7: Cool and Serve
-
- Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
-
- Transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
